今天，耶稣邀请我们提升与邪恶征战的方式。

过去，我们的习惯做法是：以眼还眼，以牙还牙。耶稣要我们试试他的办法：如果有人打你的左脸，把你的右脸也给他。

 

当人们把耶稣的右手钉到十字架上时，耶稣的方式是伸出他的左手让他们钉。当人们羞辱他诅咒他时，耶稣的回击方式是宽恕。

 

印度圣雄甘地，就是以耶稣的方式对抗大英帝国，取得了民族独立。耶稣就是以非暴力方式战胜了撒旦和死亡。

 

主耶稣，你的方式实践起来确实很难，但因着对你的感恩和爱，我将从今天就开始为得罪我的人的祈祷！

 

Today Jesus invites us to rise above our way of fighting evil, "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth," and to try His way, "If any one slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also," the way He offered His left hand after they drove a nail into His right, and the way He fought back their insults and curses with forgiveness.

 

His way has been tried by India's Mahatma Gandhi against an empire, and our own Cory Aquino against a dictator. They conquered impossible odds with the active non-violent resistance of Jesus, as He Himself conquered Satan and death.

 

Lord Jesus, Your way is hard, but in gratitude and love for You, I will make a small start today by praying for the welfare of those who do me wrong.
